We Fasted. We Prayed. We Resisted. Together.
What began as a 40-day Lenten fast has evolved into a powerful national movement. This spiritual act has transformed into a force for strategic change.
A Movement of Change
“I am Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant. A preacher, yes. A pastor, yes. But above all, I am a servant to the people.” What began as a spiritual discipline has transformed into a powerful economic movement. We did not merely withhold our dollars; we sparked a profound shift in the consciousness of our community. This journey is not born from anger, but from a deep sense of remembrance. It is not a protest driven by frustration, but a purposeful call to action. We fasted not only from stores but also from silence. We turned our prayers into protests and our protests into policies. We are no longer waiting for change; we are actively becoming the change we seek.
Our Call for Accountability and Action
When Target broke its promises to our community—pledges made after the murder of George Floyd—we acted decisively. Our demands were clear: fulfill the $2 billion pledge, invest in Black-owned banks, and restore commitment to diversity and inclusion. Silence is complicity; we demand accountability, not punishment.
