We Fasted. We Prayed. We Resisted. Together.
What began as a 40-day Lenten fast continued for over 400 days. a year. And together, we built a powerful national movement. This spiritual act has become a force for meaningful, strategic change.
A Movement of Change
On March 5, 2025, we began the Target Fast, a 40-day Lenten Fast, rooted in faith and driven by purpose.  What started as a spiritual discipline became a movement for accountability and change. We prayed.  We fasted.  But most importantly, we acted.  We turned our prayers into protests and our protests into progress. We withheld our dollars, and like the civil rights protest of our past, we shifted the consciousness of a community and affected a nation.   It took 400 days. The Fast concluded on March 11, 2026, but the broader work of corporate accountability continues.

Our fight is not over. We now move forward with the intention to build lasting economic opportunity through jobs, homeownership, financial growth, and prosperity in Black communities across this nation.  Together, we are an unstoppable force. We are not waiting for change.  We are building our future.

Your Pastor and Servant, Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant.
Our Fast Demanded Accountability and Action. We Got It.
When Target broke its promises to our community - pledges made after the murder of George Floyd - we acted decisively. Our demands were clear: fulfill the $2 billion pledge, invest in Black-owned banks, invest in HBCUs, and restore the commitment to diversity and inclusion. We spoke with our prayers and acted with purpose and stood for accountability, justice, and what is right.
